Setbacks get you ‘set’ to be propelled forward.
One morning recently I woke up tired, cranky, and didn’t have my mind in the right space. I struggled through the morning and felt like any forward progress I had made with morning routine and mindset had disappeared.
But I was committed.
The commitment I have made to myself is to show up to my yoga mat every single day. Even if I only have time to get in 10 minutes.
This particular day I showed up to my yoga mat cranky, but I showed up.
In my personal yoga practice I have found that by the time I have finished, I have more clarity of mind, more creativity, and I come away with much better perspective. The same was true of this day.
That morning as I practiced, I kept coming back to the thought of the word setback. Set back in my morning routine, setback in my morning mood, and setback in the way that I related with my family.
What this particular yoga practice taught me though was that a setback doesn't necessarily need to be viewed as a bad thing and it is just getting you ready to be propelled to the next level. Read that again. A setback is just getting you ready for the next level.
Much like an arrow is pulled back with the string of a bow before it is released to make its way to the bull’s-eye, a setback in our personal life can be doing the exact same thing.
